Lens & Shutter Seminars

Getting Jump-Started With Your Digital SLR Camera

Friday July 25 at 06:30 PM

Location: Lens & Shutter, 2061 Harvey Avenue, Kelowna / Instructor: Mr. Tom Cooper
Cost: $59.00

This is a 5 hour course, each session split between two nights.

part 1 of 2, Friday July 25th, 6:30PM - 9:00PM
part 2 of 2, Monday Aug 18th, 6:30PM - 9:00PM

Whether or not you are new to photography or simply moving up to the new d-SLR format from having worked in film, this course will strip away much of the intimidation factor so often experienced with film-to-digital transition students.

The d-SLR course is 100% hands-on and students will work with their own cameras for the full duration of the course. Theory is kept to a minimum and emphasis is always on “need to know” elements. This is not to say Tom will not answer any and all of your questions on any concerns you may have about particular challenges your planned photography may present.

Topics will include, but not be limited to, such items as: • Batteries and power sources • Memory devices and storage • File characteristics and file formats • Lenses (changing, keeping clean, lens options, lens types) • Focusing options • Metering options • Exposure compensation • Flash options and flash compensation • Menu items • Finding and using shortcut options • Preprogramed modes • Macro Photography • ISO • White Balance • Histograms • Composing shots • Photo-editing/software • Hardware and accessories.

... program developed by & delivered by Mr. Tom Cooper and hosted by Lens & Shutter Cameras, Kelowna

The class size is kept to a maximum of 8 for an optimum of one-on-one with the instructor.
